Champion Towers to Face Stacked Cromer Side in T20 Semi

A huge match is looming this Sunday as our 3 time Twenty20 Cup champions take on a side that more resembles a Martin Shield “Best of MWCA” side than the Cromer Cricket Club.

Cromer have consistently been a top side in T20 over the past few years but have not yet been able to snatch a title. The Plateau have defeated them in the Grand Final twice, including the ridiculous super over victory at Griffith Park in 2012 and the memorable Bonner/Schimek slog-a-thon of last year.

Clearly hurting from these defeats and desperate to upset CPCC’s incredible success rate of 3/6 Cup Titles, Cromer scouts were sent out to recruit a super team from across the Manly Warringah Cricket Association. Roy de Beer (Manly Breakers 1st Grade and Martin Shield), Michael Singh (Long Reef 1st Grade and Martin Shield) and Richie Goodwin (Mona Vale 2nd Grade) were all drafted in to compliment the top Cromer 1st Grade players and returning fast bowler Michael Counsell.

The Collaroy Plateau side boasts 8 CPCC juniors.

This has set the stage for a battle of epic proportions on Sunday. With a lot of the best talent in the association on display, the game is certain to be of a very high quality. The Plateau will be fired up and determined to send Cromer out of the comp again.

The Towers have had an impressive run to make the finals with 3 comfortable victories and strong performances across the whole side.

Unfortunately the game has been scheduled in the spongy, long, never mown properly grass of Nolans (2), but don’t let that deter you from getting down to support the boys at 3:00pm on Sunday. Look out for a possible Live Blog of the game on the CPCC website.

The team for Sunday’s Semi Final at Nolans 2 is as follows:

Jake Carden (c) – CPCC Junior
Ryan Dunn (vc) – CPCC 2nd Grade
Brodie Elliott – CPCC 2nd Grade
Rob Minnett – CPCC 1st Grade
Nick Bonner – CPCC 2nd Grade
Alex Perry – North Sydney 4th Grade
Jeff Porter-Denning – CPCC 1st Grade
Sam Steindl – CPCC 2nd Grade
James Price – CPCC 1st Grade
Harry Dunn – CPCC 2nd Grade
Will Hurst – Peninsula Junior
