Dan ‘Chopper’ Peters takes home ‘The Shearer’ for 08/09

Brookvale Hotel, May 1st,09: A2 all-rounder Dan Peters took out the Club’s most prestigious award, The Bruce Shearer Trophy, at the recent Presentation Night at the Brookvale Hotel. Around 60 club members attended despite the ‘clash’ with the Grand Final replay (Manly v Storm) next door at Brooky Oval. Dan’s stellar season of 49 wickets from quality leg-spin supported by 346 runs gave him 1031 points, about 30 more than his nearest rival, previous winner Matt Moore from the B1s. Other major award winners on the night were:

Sam Steindl – Warwick Armstrong Trophy (most catches)
Toby Horstead – B & B Moore Clubman Trophy
Rob Minnett – The Randolph Beddows Flag (best A1 player)
Al Richardson – 25 Years Service
The night also featured the capping of the 2009 England Tourists
