CPCC 4th Grade vs Wakehurst at Nolans 5 THIS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. Be there!! Semi-final Match report below..
The Plateau have a side to cheer on this Senior Grand Finals weekend after 4th Grade completed a very impressive win over Harbord Bowling Club on Sunday.
Collaroy Plateau, led by Darren McDermott, lost the toss and were in the field first up on Saturday. The boys were able to restrict Harbord to just 111 off 55.4 overs. Pat Koch took 5 wickets to become clear favourite for the 2015/16 Shearer Trophy. Brad Baber and Lachlan Allomes took 2 each while James Bourcier took the other wicket. The Plateau then finished day 1 in the best possible way by losing no wickets and being 0/39 at stumps.
Early on Sunday LBW’s reared their ugly head, which have been a blight on the MWCA 2015/16 season, as they accounted for the first 3 CPCC wickets. Opener Ryan Blackshaw went for 26 while Lachlan Murphie and Pat Koch were both out for 1. After being 3/52, the scale was tilted back in Plateau’s favour thanks to a wonderfully tempered partnership between opener James Bourcier and Sam Filmer-Ramsay. The pressure put on by Harbord’s only two bowlers was absorbed by these two as they left balls constantly and picked off the odd run here and there. The patient 4th wicket stand ended when James was bowled for 41, with the score at 4/82. The game was put out of doubt when Oscar Brunton combined with Sam to move Plateau within 7 runs of victory. Sam finally got a loose ball from the Harbord spinner and put him away for 6 to bring up the win and remain unbeaten on 24.
To highlight just how patient the Collaroy Plateau innings was, the total was reached after 61.4 overs. Quite an impressive effort, especially under Semi Final pressure.
The 4 wicket win sends 4th Grade into the Grand Final this weekend at Nolans 5 against Wakehurst, Saturday and Sunday. No doubt there will be a large CPCC contingent heading down to watch, so please join us as they vouch for a MWCA 2015/16 Premiership!
