It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Joyce Huxley. Those associated with the Club from the very earliest days through fifty years will know of Joyce’s wonderful support and friendship. They will also know of the key role number 96 Blandford Street Collaroy Plateau has played in their lives and that of the Club. Wife of Vic, Joyce was there accommodating the very first meeting of the Collaroy Plateau Cricket Club back in 1955, and many more thereafter. For anyone who has played for the club prior to the 1990’s, there’s a good chance they at one time had to call into no.96 to pick up a kit, a mat or a ball. As a young boy, I never tired of rummaging around under ‘Aunty Joyce’s’ house checking out all the cricket gear. Joyce’s passing sees the end of an era for the Club, but one that many hold the memories of very closely.
