Senior Results Round 6

1st Grade

1sts found themselves in the field first up at Terrey Hills. On a fast outfield it wasn’t long before Wakehurst Red starting ticking the scoreboard over at a frequent rate. CPCC found some early breakthroughs via Jeff Porter-Denning and a fortuitous dropped caught and bowled run out to Ethan Elliott before a big partnership for the 3rd wicket took the Wakehurst total over 200. Missed chances in the field came at a high cost for the Plateau. By the time wickets started falling again the damage was done, with Wakehurst being bowled out for 353 after 57.2 overs. Ethan Elliott finished with 3/67, Ben Eady 3/90 and Porter-Denning 2/41. TC snicked off during the 9 overs to face before stumps leaving Plateau at 1/15. Unfortunately the batting innings struggled to gain momentum with wickets falling constantly. Alistair Fitzpatrick held things together somewhat with 59, whilst others including Ethan, Brodie Elliott and Dave Bennetts chipped in with 30s. Plateau could only manage 195 off 66.2 overs in their chase.

3rd Grade

3rds took on Terrey Hills for the second time this season after their amazing high scoring affair when the met previously. At Griffith Park Terrey Hills won the toss and batted and proceeded to post a competitive 229. Adam Morrison claimed his first 5 fa for CPCC (5/41) and Nathan Logan took 4/53. We’ve often questioned the batting strength in our 3rds team this season, but yet again they managed to put on a dominant performance. This time it was Andrew Logan who was in the runs, leading the chase with a huge 90. He was supported Adam Morrison, who backed up his bowling performance with a 42 with the bat, and Adam Sheppard, who continues to build his impressive season, scoring 64 not out. Plateau were only 4 down when the achieved their target, finishing on 4/243. 3rds now have a nice buffer in the top 4.

4th Blue

4ths Blue won the toss and batted first at Warriewood against Mona Vale. Run machine Blake Conde was at it again and he smashed his way to yet another century. He was supported by minor contributions from the rest of the batting lineup, but his 116 led CPCC to a total of 276 off 74.2 overs. Mona Vale put up a staunch defence the following week. Whilst they were never in it with the runs, it took 4ths Blue 72.1 overs to bowl them out and the possibility of a draw must have been looming at some stage. Raja Ganeshraj was again the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/46 off 22. His Dad, Ganesh Raj, also took 2/13. Matt Moore claimed 2/30. 4ths Blue sit 3rd, comfortably within the top 4.

4ths Gold

4ths Gold were meant to vs Cromer, however they forfeited the match without notice, unfortunately leaving Gold with 2 weeks off.

5th Grade

5th Grade set 151 off 49.3 against Wakehurst at Plateau Park. Unfortunately Wakehurst chased down the total 5 down after 33 overs. Apologies for lack of player scores as they haven’t been put into MyCricket yet.
