Nirav Patel has hit an incredible century to hand the Ogres their first win of the T20 season.
Up against a Belrose Rugby League team that included Warringah Shires’ 1st Grade captain, the Ogres found themselves fielding first at Nolans 4. They were missing a number of their big names, the team included 7 of the original Ogres squad from 2011/12. After giving the entire team bar 1 a bowl, they found themselves chasing 150 – a very decent effort considering the caliber of some of the batsmen in the opposition team.
Nirav opened the batting and kept the score ticking along, but despite this the Ogres never really seemed in the game. They were only about 60 after 10 overs. That’s when Nirav really put the hammer down. He proceeded to hit 11 sixes – with each one getting bigger than the previous. With 3 overs to go, the Ogres still required 45 to win the match. Nirav pressed on to his hundred and also put the Ogres in a position to grab an amazing victory. The deficit had been completely dismantled by the last over, with the remaining Ogres batsmen only needing 6 more (Nirav was dismissed in the previous over for 101). Victory was secured with a 4, with balls to spare.

“Unbelievably….. We just chased down 150 and won against Belrose who had several shires and ex grade players. 7 or 8 original Ogres. Nirav got a briĺliant 100. Ward H hit winning run.. Everyone had a bowl and we had a great time. Full report to follow…..”
Congratulations to the Ogres on the fantastic win and Nirav for notching up a blistering ton!
