Jacko vs Tobes

Saturday evening before last, Plateau treasurer Toby Horstead sat in the pub with a beaming smile, anxious to tell his fellow clubmen about the career milestones he had achieved thanks to a solid 47 that day.

He whipped out his iPad and brought up the list of players with the most runs for the club. He happily explained his calculations that showed he had amassed 5000 runs for the club – a fantastic achievement. However there was more – he believed that he had also moved past club legend John Jackson.

And with a cheeky grin he revealed this to Jacko himself a couple of days later at a CPCC committee meeting. Needless to say, Jacko was unimpressed and he immediately vowed to strike back, saying he was going straight out to open for his development team in the next match. He was also spotted relentlessly training in the nets, preparing his fightback against the treasurer.

Open the batting he did last Saturday. Jacko went on to smite Toby’s claims with an incredible unbeaten 83 in his first innings for Plateau this season. It is also believed that this was Jacko’s first half century for the Plateau since 2008. He catapulted himself back firmly in front of Toby.

As it turns out, Jacko was actually still about 15 runs ahead of Toby before carving out his 83*. The treasurer now has a 100 run deficit to make up to hit back in this fascinating career runs battle! Who will deal the next blow???

Career Runs
John Jackson 5148
Toby Horstead 5048
