A fairy tale end to season 18/19 for 4th Grade has been spoiled by an almighty deluge that began late Saturday night and lasted well into Day 2 of the Grand Final on Sunday.
After a wet and soggy week it was a miracle that teams got their grand final matches underway on Saturday. Our CPCC 4th Graders were taking on a high flying Manly Leagues team on Nolans 2. CPCC won the toss and batted first, only to be bundled out for 72 off 51 overs (Dwyer 19). This proved to be a blessing in disguise, with the Plateau bowlers having Leagues under immense pressure at 4/24 (Moore 2/1) at stumps. With runs with hard the come by on the lush, damp Nolans outfield, the Plateau were in a great position to upset ladder topping Leagues Club.
Sadly, the heavens opened on Saturday night and Nolans quickly transformed into it’s alter ego of a lake making play impossible on Day 2.
Being the higher placed team, Manly Leagues get away with the premiership.
Commiserations to 4th Grade, but also congratulations on an incredible comeback season.
