1st Grade
1st Grade had the bye this week.
2nd Grade
In an important match with 2nds record at 1-3 for the first four rounds, the boys took on Mona Vale at Warriewood Oval in their first one-dayer for the season. Brodie lost the toss, with his team sent into the field by the Mona Vale skipper and when opening bowler Nick Johnson sent his first three deliveries off the pitch things were far from an ideal start. But the following was a back on a length delivery on a 4th stump line which took the outside edge to dismiss the opening batsman for a duck and after several other wides in the over, Nick managed to snare the wicket of the other opening batsman for a duck as well. From there the whole bowling unit for the Plateau put on a clinic, to have Mona Vale out for 84. Nick Johnson ended the pick of the bowlers with 4/11 off his 7. Well supported by Ryan Dunn 2/16 off 6, Oscar Brunton 2/21 off 5, Steve Caproni 1/8 off 5 and Jeff with 1/0 off 0.2 overs. Also an honorable mention to James Price who opened the bowling and pinned down their only batsman who looked like getting away from the Plateau, which kept the pressure on at the other end.
In reply with the bat, opener Toby Horstead put the game to bed fairly quickly with 44 before being run out by fellow opener Conrad. The Plateau then had a small scare losing 4 wickets for no score. But were home comfortably with the score at 5/87.
3rd Grade Blue
Versing Long Reef at Lake Park, Captain Matt Moore won the toss and elected to bat. The boys managed 149 all out in the last over of the innings, with Dwyer (24), Pressley (24), D Steel (20) and Moore (26) unable to build on their solid individual starts.
In reply with the ball, Plateau got off to a great start having both openers out with the score at 5. But Long Reef’s Number Four teed off with the bat, smashing 74 off 27 to take the game out of Plateau’s grasp. Long Reef reached the total 5 wickets down and within 20 overs. Moore, Raj, Faulkner, Dwyer and R Steel all shared a wicket between them.
3rd Grade Gold
In their 5th Round clash against Manly Leagues, Plateau Gold won the toss and sent the opposition into bat at Millers 2. With consistent wickets through out the innings, Gold managed to restrict Leagues to 6/135 from their 35 overs. Michael Wright was the only multiple wicket taker with figures of 2/24. Single wicket takers were Bourcier, Koch, L Allomes and B Baber.
In reply Gold started slowly with the bat losing a few wickets early to be 2/15. However an impressive innings of 83 from opening bat James Bourcier held the innings together, with Gold cruising to a comfortable 6 wicket victory in 31 overs. Another good win to our 3rd Grade Gold side who are holding down 2nd place on the ladder.
4th Grade
With their game tragically moved away from Plateau Park to Terry Hills oval due to vandalism to the pitch. Stand in captain Kim Blacker won the toss and elected to bat against Wakehurst Huntsman. The boys managed 6/144 in their 35 overs, with Neasmith top scoring with an impressive 47. Norris Waters also managed 34 not out along with Tim Shultz with 24 and Eli Cox with 20*.
In reply Wakehurst lost a wicket at the hands of Plateau opening bowler Eli Cox without scoring a run. However the 2nd wicket partnership for the opposition steadied for a 77 run stand. This was a big enough platform to see the Huntsman over the line by 5 wickets and with 7 overs to spare. Pat Bowden ended with figures of 2/22, with Cox, Woolf and DeBressac sharing a wicket each.
