It was yet another tough week for Firsts. After scrambling for players up until the very start of the match, the Plateau were able to take the field at Griffith Park with 11. Long Reef’s Singh got established and hit an unbeaten 74* in their 6/206. In reply, CPCC made a respectable 7/155, but it was not enough to stop the bonus point defeat. Rob Minnett made 45, Darryl Buchanan 24 and Anthony Papandrea 22.
There was also a couple of injuries to account for – the last thing the vastly wounded squad needed. Col Huxley suffered a broken toe whilst batting and captain Rob Minnett a broken finger. At least Rob will have some good material for the end of season injury report.
This week Firsts have a strong 11 for the match at home vs Dee Why, they will be looking to get their season back on track.
Second Grade survived an incredible late innings collapse to grab a bonus point win and return to the top of the table. You may have read the extended Second Grade report here
Thirds suffered a tragic 1 run defeat to Long Reef at Passmore. Set 150 (R Steel 2/12) the Plateau were agonisingly bowled out for 149. Damon Steel scored 68 off 55 balls.
Wakehurst dealt the Plateau a heavy defeat in 4ths. They were bowled out for 106 (Patrick Koch 39) and Wakehurst chased down the runs within 25 overs and with 6 wickets in hand (Sam Filmer-Ramsay 2/15).
Rounding a very tough Saturday for the Plateau, our Development side also went down, defeated by the Breakers in the One Day B Grade. 6 different bowlers took 1 wicket in the Breakers’ 7/125. In reply, we could only make 9/94 (Luke Ireland 33).
Here’s hoping for a much better day this Saturday and some solid momentum for our senior teams heading into the new year!
