The CPCC Energy racked up their first win in the 10/1 average cricket competition on Sunday scoring 6/81 (an average of 13.55) to beat the Cromer Colts who scored 10/78 (an average of 7.8). The Energy has been competitive all year and close to a win the two previous games, so it was great to see them record a comprehensive victory before the Christmas break. This is a great effort by the improving Energy given 3/4 of the team could be playing Under 9s (they wanted to step-up to the 10/1s to use a real hardball leather ‘6-stitcher’) and 6 new players joined the team this year who had not played previously.
The whole team performed very well and the standout achievements in the win were Billy Anderson who took 3/3 and a catch while wicketkeeping, Daniel Blacker who just missed a hatrick when taking 3/8, Ollie Hurt with a great run out, Daniel Kelly and Luc Debien who shared a partnership of 20 for the loss of 1 wicket, and Hendrix Whiffen and Taj Nicholson who secured the win batting out the last 6 overs for a 15 run partnership without losing a wicket.
The Energy are a great group of boys and I look forward to seeing them improve in the years to come.
